Rubel Castle

Nestled in the foothills of Glendora, Rubel Castle is an innovative and creative structure that is pieces together with some of the most bizarre building materials. While some of the structure is constructed with concrete, other materials such as bottles, hangers, scrap steel, and even a toaster were added into the stone work. The structure began as a simple get-away area but over the years of Michael Rubel’s life, grew to the amazing structure that it is today.

Where Is Rubel Castle Located?

Located at 844 N Live Oak Ave. Glendora, CA 91741, the Castle is a sight you won’t want to miss. Notable visitors to the area in its early years include Dwight Eisenhower, Angie Dickinson, Alfred Hitchcock, Prince Philip, and many other recognizable names. Rubel donated the Castle to the Glendora Historical Society in 2005.

What To Do At Rubel Castle?

What you can expect to see on your visit to the Castle includes a 70-foot clock tower that chimes at every half-hour, as well as an old Santa Fe Railroad caboose. There are automobiles that date back to the 1920s, a printing press room, and a blacksmith area. You can also see a drawbridge and there are three underground “dungeons”, too.

Witness firsthand the creative and collective efforts of Rubel and his friends and who helped him build the monumental structure over time. The entire structure was built without any architectural planning.
